Course Duration
2 Days
Entry Requirements:
In order to undertake a C1 driving course, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age and have a manual car Category B (Cat B) licence.
- Be able to read a new style number plate from a distance of 20 metres (the use of glasses or vision correction such as contact lenses is allowed).
Assuming that the learner already has a Cat B driving licence, you must complete the following steps prior to the C1 practical driving test:
Step 1: LGV medical test. To complete your LGV medical test, you must first
download the D4 medical form which can be downloaded from the gov.uk website. The form must be taken with you to your medical, and a Doctor will complete the form accordingly. You can try your own GP practice to start, however private practices can offer driver medical checks. We recommend shopping around for the best price. This must then be sent to the DVLA in order to receive a provisional.
Step 2: Provisional C1 licence. Once you have completed your LGV medical, you must complete the D2 application form which can be obtained from your local post office or ordered from the DVLA online.
Step 3: The final step is to complete a LGV theory test which can be booked on the DVSA website or by calling the DVSA booking line on 0300 200 1122.
